Getting started

How do I link my bank account?

Go to the Accounts page and tap Link Account. You'll be taken through Plaid's secure connection flow — your bank credentials are entered directly into Plaid's form and never pass through Networthy's servers.

What is Plaid?

Plaid is a financial data network that securely connects banking apps to your financial institutions. It's used by apps like Venmo, Robinhood, and thousands of others. Networthy uses Plaid so your bank credentials never touch our servers.

Why does the app ask for my bank login?

Networthy uses Plaid to pull in your balances and transaction history automatically. You enter your bank login inside Plaid's own secure form — Networthy only receives the resulting read-only data connection, not your credentials.

How do I see all my accounts and balances in one place?

Once you link an account through Plaid, it appears automatically on the Accounts page and contributes to your net worth on the Dashboard. Link as many institutions as you like — checking, savings, credit cards, and investments all roll up together.

How do I add something Plaid can't see, like real estate or a car?

Go to the Accounts page and scroll to the Manual assets section. Tap '+ Add asset' to create a manual entry. You can set an automatic depreciation or appreciation rate (for assets like cars or rental properties), or update the value yourself whenever it changes.

How do I export my transactions?

On the Transactions page, use the filters to narrow down to what you want, then tap Export CSV. The file will include every transaction currently shown in the filtered view.

Net worth & dashboard

How does Networthy calculate my net worth?

Net worth is the sum of all your asset balances (checking, savings, investments, manual assets) minus all your liability balances (credit cards, loans, mortgages). It updates automatically every time your accounts sync.

Why did my net worth jump or drop suddenly?

The net worth chart marks the exact date an account was added or removed with a small dotted vertical line. Hover over it to see which account changed. A sudden jump usually means a new investment account was linked, and a drop usually means an account was unlinked or removed.

How far back does the net worth trend go?

The chart shows your rolling 30-day trend based on daily snapshots taken while you've been a Networthy user. The longer you're connected, the more history you'll see.

Cash flow & recurring

What transactions count toward expected income or expenses?

A source has to appear at least 3 times with consistent timing (roughly weekly, biweekly, or monthly) and a stable amount before it counts as 'expected'. The Cash Flow page shows exactly which sources qualified and why others didn't under the 'Not recognized yet' section.

Why isn't my paycheck (or a regular bill) showing up as recurring?

Open the Cash Flow page and scroll to 'Not recognized yet' — you'll see a plain-English reason for each near-miss: 'only seen twice so far', 'timing isn't consistent enough', or 'amount varies too much'. If the amount varies widely (like freelance income), tap the ⋯ menu on the source and choose Edit rule to set a custom tolerance range.

What is the difference between Expected and Matched on the Cash Flow page?

'Expected' is what we predict based on your recurring sources — the amount we'd expect to see hit this month. 'Matched' is what has actually posted so far this month from those same recurring sources. The difference tells you what's still pending.

How do I fix a recurring rule that has the wrong amount or cadence?

On the Cash Flow page, find the source under 'Recurring sources behind expected' and tap the ⋯ menu. Choose Edit rule to set a custom amount per occurrence, frequency (weekly / biweekly / monthly), and an allowed variation percentage. A live range preview shows the min and max amounts that will count as a match.

What does the bill radar status (SAFE / TIGHT / ALERT) mean?

The 14-Day Bill Radar compares your available cash balance against the total of confirmed recurring bills due in the next 14 days. SAFE means you have at least 1.5× the bill total in cash. TIGHT means roughly enough. ALERT means your cash after paying those bills would be less than the bills themselves.

Alerts & AI features

What does 'Worth a look' flag?

The Worth a Look card highlights two types of anomalies: duplicate charges (same merchant and amount posting more than once within 24 hours) and price increases (a recurring bill coming in meaningfully higher than its recent average). You can dismiss any item if it turns out to be expected.

Why is a charge showing up in Worth a Look when it's not a duplicate?

The duplicate detector can occasionally fire on pending-then-posted transactions or on legitimate same-day repeat purchases at the same merchant. You can dismiss any false positive from the card — it won't affect your data.

What is the AI insight on the dashboard?

The insight banner surfaces one observation about your finances each day — things like a bill that's been creeping up, a month where spending in a category jumped, or a recurring source you might want to review. It's generated from your own data and updates daily.

What push notifications does Networthy send?

You can enable four types: large transactions (any single charge above your threshold), account re-link needed (when a bank requires you to re-authenticate), weekly summary (your net worth and cash flow for the week), and net worth milestones (when you cross a round number you set). All are optional and configurable in Settings.

Mobile & iOS widget

Is there a mobile app?

Yes — Networthy works as a full-featured web app on mobile browsers, and there is also a native iOS app available. The iOS app supports push notifications and the home screen widget.

How do I add the home screen widget?

On iOS, long-press your home screen, tap the + button in the top corner, search for Networthy, and add the widget. It shows your live net worth, cash, investments, and debt — updated automatically in the background.

Privacy & security

Is my financial data safe?

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Plaid access tokens are encrypted with AES-256. Passwords are hashed and cannot be recovered — not even by us.

Does anyone at Networthy see my transactions or balances?

No. Internal team database access is restricted to anonymized, aggregated views — individual transaction names and account balances are not accessible to Networthy employees in day-to-day operations. Plaid access tokens are stored encrypted and never logged. The app processes your data automatically, but no person on the team reads your financial information.

Why isn't my account syncing?

Banks occasionally require you to re-authenticate. On the Accounts page, look for any institution flagged with an attention badge. Tap it to re-link that institution. You can also tap Sync now to force a manual refresh.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Go to Settings → Danger zone → Delete account, type DELETE to confirm, and your account, all linked Plaid connections, and all financial data are permanently deleted immediately. You can also email trey@reicopilot.com to request deletion.
